Quentin has got glasses and short straight brown hair. He has got blue eyes and a round face. He has got a small nose but he hasn't got a big nose.

Australian clichés

1) There are lots of kangaroos and koalas in Australia, but not everywhere.
2) It isn't always hot in Australia, sometimes it's raining.
3) A shark is not always ready to eat you up when you go swimming in the sea. Sharks prefer seals to eat.
4) Rugby is not the national Australian sport because not everybody likes rugby.
5) Australians aren't all great surfers.

In Australia, there are koalas, big spiders, dangerous animals and kangaroos.
In Australia, many/lots of people enjoy (= like) surfing and everybody plays rugby.
Around Australia, there are sharks.

Australia

Australia is in the southern hemisphere. It is a big island, it's 15 times bigger than France.
Sydney is the biggest city, but the capital is Canberra.
There are 22 million people in Australia, they are called Australians or "Aussies" and they speak English.
The Aboriginals were the first inhabitants of Australia before the British colonized it.

VE Day

Today it's a little windy and a little cold but it's very cloudy.

Yesterday it was VE Day = Victory in Europe Day.
We celebrate the end of the Second World War (WWII). It's a bank holiday (= un jour férié)

Jenny and Tom

Jenny can speak English quite well, she can play tennis a little and she can sing very well but she can't play the guitar at all.

Tom can play the piano very well, he can play basketball a little and he can cook quite well but he can't speak German at all.
