Queen Elizabeth Ist

Elizabeth I of England, also known as Elizabeth Tudor, was born on 7th September 1533. She was the third daughter of King Henry VIII and his second wife Ann Boleyn.
She became Queen of England on 17th November 1558, at 25 years old, and she reigned over England and Ireland until her death on 24th March 1603.

She never married, and never had children, so she was called "The Virgin Queen".
She is well known for the establishment of an English Protestant church, and for her defeat over the Spanish Armada in 1588.
Her reign is known as the Elizabethan Era, when English drama developped. Famous playwrights (dramaturges) such as William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe are contemporaries of Elizabeth I.
